WHAT THE VODOUN IS NOT:  THE SIMPLE BASICS

 

 

 

 

 

      Vodoun is not a “magical” tradition.

 

      Vodoun is not a “cult.”

 

      Vodoun is not an “animists” tradition.

 

      Vodoun is not a “spiritists” tradition.

 

      Vodoun is not a “pagan” tradition.

 

 

      Vodoun is not a path of “power” for the"sake of power”.

 

      Vodoun is not a “universal“ tradition. Although others can join, 

      (99% of  Vodoun’s priesthoods are inherited).

 

      Vodoun is not “dogmatic” (based on rigid infallible doctrines).

 

       Vodoun is not a “proselytizing” tradition. (does not seek recruits).

 

       Vodoun is not an “apocalyptic”  tradition (end of the world/doomsday             etc.,).

 

       Vodoun is not a “pantheistic” religion (belief in many gods).

 

       Vodoun did not originate in Haiti.

 

        The Vodoun Religion did not originate as a result of slavery

        and oppression.

 

         The Vodoun religion is not a religion created as a result of  “poverty

         and disenfranchisement.”
